The Revd Elaine Brightwell

New Team Vicar

A new Team Vicar has been appointed to the Nadder Valley Benefice. The Revd Elaine Brightwell is based in Dinton. Her licensing took place in a special service on Friday 9th June in St Margaret’s Church, Chilmark.

Elaine comes to us from Somerset where she was the Associate Priest in a benefice of four rural parishes of Pilton, Croscombe, North Wootton, and Dinder; a post she has held for the last four and a half years. During this time Elaine has been a self-supporting priest and also worked as Manager of the Bristol Methodist Centre – a day centre for homeless and vulnerable adults. Elaine spent her teenage years in Trowbridge, Wiltshire so returning to Salisbury diocese will be something of a coming home for here. She worked overseas for about fifteen years supporting aid agencies working with refugees from Cambodia and Afghanistan.

Elaine Brightwell succeeds the Revd Jane Tailby who left the Benefice last summer.  There is another vacant Team Vicar post in the Benefice caused by the retirement of the Revd Andrew Staley in January 2017. It is anticipated that vacancy will be advertised later this year.
