St John’s Church Band

play and praise!

The St John’s Church Band was formed in 2010 to play at the monthly informal family service. It has since grown and now has about fifteen members – strings, woodwind, saxophones, piano, electric guitars and drums.

The band plays hymns and worship songs for services, and light music and arranged jazz after the services and for concerts (and even some rock and roll at these). It has provided the music several times for the all-day healing services in Salisbury Cathedral and has played at various other events.

Many of the players are experienced musicians and others have taken up their instruments again after a long gap. We’d like to encourage young people to join in and as all the music is specially arranged simplified parts can be provided if necessary.
