The Gospel for Easter Day

Palm Sunday

Pictures from 9th April 2017

Palm Sunday marks the start of Holy Week; the day when Jesus entered triumphantly into Jerusalem to the shouts of “Hosanna” from the crowds.  Palm Sunday at St John’s Tisbury begins at the top of the village’s High Street with the Blessing of Palms and reading of the Gospel for Palm Sunday. The service then continued with a sung procession to the church accompanied by Zephyr the donkey. During the service in church there is a dramatized reading of the Passion according to St Mark.  Within days that cry of “Hosanna” will change to “Crucify” – Jesus is no longer branded as a king, but as a  criminal.
