New Bishop in Tisbury
The Rt Revd Andrew Rumsey
The new Bishop of Ramsbury, the Rt Revd Andrew Rumsey was in Tisbury on Sunday 10th February to celebrate and preach at our 0930 Parish Communion. He was Team Rector at St Mary’s Oxted in Surrey and is now based in Marlborough. He is married with three children.
We were delighted to welcome Bishop Andrew to St John’s so soon after the start of his ministry here. As Bishop of Ramsbury (an ancient title which began in 909 AD and even predates that of Salisbury ) he is one of three bishops in the Diocese of Salisbury.
Earlier this year Bishop Andrew was welcomed to the diocese in a special service in Salisbury Cathedral. Speaking during the service he said ‘People will be my first priority.”
