Bishop of Salisbury in Tisbury
Sunday 9th October 0930
The Celebrant and Preacher at our 0930 Parish Communion service on Sunday 9th October will be the Right Reverend Stephen Lake, the new Bishop of Salisbury. Bishop Stephen was enthroned as 79th bishop of the diocese in a service in Salisbury Cathedral in June.
The Anglican Diocese of Salisbury covers much of Wiltshire and Dorset and also includes the Channel Islands. Bishop Stephen will be familiar with the lie of the land; originally from Poole, he served as a curate at Sherborne Abbey. He was ordained as a priest in Salisbury Cathedral in 1989 and subsequently became Vicar of St Aldhelm’s, Branksome, Poole from 1992. In 2001 he was appointed Sub-Dean at St Alban’s Cathedral before moving ten years later to be Dean of Gloucester Cathedral.
Bishop Stephen has already written about the current cost of living crisis in his monthly online letter.
