Easter Day

Beating the bounds 2017

Sunday 21st May: 1130

In the past, it’s been a tradition in the past for local people – young and old – to beat the bounds by walking the boundaries of the parish, and literally beating the boundary at key points so that young people in particular would learn where the borders lay. This has always taken place on the Sixth Sunday of Easter – known as Rogation Sunday.

This weekend on Sunday 21st May, there will be a walk along a mystery part of the parish boundary. Meet at the Hinton Hall car park at 1130 am. Bring a packed lunch; a stick might be an idea too!
