We were saddened to hear of the sudden death of the Very Revd Robert Willis in the USA on Tuesday 22nd October, aged 77. Robert was Rector of the Tisbury Team from 1978 to 1987, moving on to become Vicar of Sherborne Abbey. He was appointed Dean of Hereford in 1992, and in 2001 became Dean of Canterbury, a post which he held until his retirement in 2022 at the age of 75. He was given the title Dean Emeritus of Canterbury in January 2023.
Robert’s funeral took place on Wednesday 13th November at Christ Church, New Haven in Connecticut. The service was livestreamed and can be accessed via the Christ Church website https://www.christchurchnh.org/ A memorial service will be held at Salisbury Cathedral at 15.00 on Sunday 2nd February 2025.
