Remembrance 2021
We will remember them
In normal times on Remembrance Sunday, many of us would have attended services to recall all those who gave their lives in the two world wars and other conflicts since then. This year the second lockdown meant that our services in St John’s and at the War Memorial had to be cancelled.
However, in place of our 0930 Parish Communion in church, we held a short Act of Remembrance in St John’s Churchyard attended by about 60 people suitably distanced. The service was led from the North Porch by the Vicar, the Revd Juliette Hulme, with a hymn and the National Anthem sung by the Choir, as well as the Two Minutes’ Silence framed by the Last Post and Reveille.
During the service we also heard a poem entitled The Last Post by Carol Ann Duffy, Poet Laureate from 2009 until 2019. Read it here. [We are not responsible for the content of other websites]
