A Carol Service for Epiphany

Sunday 16th February: 1800

This year we are introducing a special service to mark the season of Epiphany.  The service is a sequence of music and readings devised by Stuart Robinson our Director of Music, and our Parish Priest the Revd Juliette Hulme.

The readings include the narrative from St Matthew’s Gospel which tells of the arrival of the wise men and Herod’s slaughter of the innocents. We’ll also hear TS Eliot’s Journey of the Magi. Music includes seasonal anthems by Philip Stopford, Benjamin Britten, Harold Darke and James MacMillan. The sequence is interspersed with some hymns for Epiphany including O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness and As with gladness men of old.

This service replaces the Choral Evensong service that is usually held on the third Sunday of the month. The next Choral Evensong will be on 20th February.
