The 2021 Carol Service
Monday 20th December: 7.30pm
The churches of Tisbury welcome you to the annual service of Lessons and Carols on Monday 20th December at 7.30pm. Because space is limited, please note advance booking is essential – email firstname.lastname@example.org stating how many seats you require. This year we are all allowed to sing, but legal requirements mean masks must be worn by the congregation from arrival in the building until departure.
Our celebration of the Christmas story is told through a series of readings from the prophecy of the Messiah’s birth to the story of the birth itself and the visits of the shepherds and the wise men. The sequence culminates with the Prologue to St John’s Gospel: The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us.
The readings, read by representatives from the local community, are interspersed with some much-loved carols as well as some less familiar ones. Carols this year include Once in royal David’s city, Hark the herald angels sing and Silent Night. The choir will sing carol arrangements by John Barnard, Alexander LÉstrange and Mack Wilberg.
