Come to the party
Saturday September 17th: 4pm
The Rt Revd Humphrey Southern (pictured, currently Principal of Ripon College Cuddesdon and Rector of Tisbury between 1999 and 2007), returns this Saturday to help celebrate the launch of our exciting Development Project, and to bless the newly improved north porch in a special service of Choral Evensong at 4pm. The service will include music by Bruckner and Brahms.
Afterwards at around 5.15pm, there will be a party with drinks and light refreshments. There is no charge and no need to say in advance that you are coming. We will explain and launch the next stage of our development plans to provide better heating and a WC block attached to the church, as well as making some other improvements. It will make the church a place which is much more user-friendly for the whole community of Tisbury.
This wonderful scheme has been generously supported by Tisbury Parish Council with £80,000 from its allocation of Development Gain money arising from the building of the new houses in Hindon Lane.
The work to the porch has been paid for by an anonymous generous donor, and includes a new stone floor surface, new notice boards, and uplighting. The wrought-iron gates have also been reconditioned. When new glass doors are installed, they will transform the amount of light coming into the church. Viewed from inside, the glass doors will serve as a full-length window of the world outside; conversely, the outside world will be able to see inside!
Please come and join us on this happy and important day. You can come to the service or the party or both – we’d love to see you. Although we are now starting fund raising in earnest there will be no collection.
