Serving the young
Jesus said: ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.’
At St John’s we place great emphasis on our young people from baptism through to confirmation and beyond. We gently encourage the teaching of God’s works and inspire them to use the church space with events and workshops.
Families are very welcome at St. John’s; our newly refreshed Activity Corner contains age-appropriate activities, games and toys for use during Sunday Services, Weddings, Funerals, Baptisms and other occasions, while our most child-focussed service is the Family Service.
St John’s Youth Team gets together to prepare and present the monthly informal family service on the first Sunday of the month. Young people are encouraged to play an active part in the service, reading, demonstrating and acting out dramas, or leading the singing and actions in worship songs. During these services we also have percussion instruments and flags available for children and grown-ups!
Members of the St Johns Youth Team are also involved with setting up and running a youth club for Tisbury that will be housed in the new village Community Hub.
